NBC’s ‘Time’ Travel Pilot from Eric Kripke, Shawn Ryan Casts Goran Visnjic

Goran Visnjic (“The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo,” “Elektra”) has been cast as the antagonist in NBC’s upcoming time travel pilot — titled “Time” — which is described as “‘Back to the Future meets ‘Mission: Impossible.'” The project comes from a collaboration between genre TV veterans Eric Kripke (“Supernatural”) and Shawn Ryan (“The Shield”), who both wrote the script and are serving as executive producers.

According to Deadline, Visnjic’s time-traveling antagonist, named Garcia Flynn, is “…vulnerable, damaged and oddly emotional…a dangerous man who’s recently stolen a time machine and traveled with his team of soldiers to the hours prior to the Hindenburg’s explosion. Flynn is guided by a strange journal from some other period of time, and while his full plan is still shrouded in mystery, it’s clear that he must be stopped.”

The series follows a trio — played by Abigail Spencer, Matt Lanter and Malcolm Barrett — who travel through time to prevent the criminal activity of Visnjic’s Garcia Flynn as he attempts to alter the fabric of human history.

The pilot is produced by Sony Pictures Television and Davis Entertainment, and if picked up to series, will air on NBC.

Love a good time travel story, but this is going to have to be VERY tightly written to not lose track.

I really hope that ‘Time’ becomes a hit in the TV land, because I was sad to see Goran Visnjic taking off from ‘Extant’, his last sci-fi project.
I was pretty excited when I read the news, but then for a moment I got to realize that he will be playing the main villain, and that is where I got to pause for a moment. He almost never played a bad guy on the small screen. I mean, yes, Visnjic had played some complicated characters here and there, but never something so… on the dark side.
I wish him everything well, as I will definitely await for the TV series to kick in.

Look, It’l probably be a good show! I’ve read somewhere in the text that ‘Time’ will be produced by Sony Pictures Television and aired on NBC. This combination practically guarantees success for at least a season. I’m confident that the main protagonists will make things interesting, while Goran Visnjic (or at least his character) will keep them at check (at history that is).
Visnjic has been primarily the good guy in almost all of his series, almost never played a serious antagonist before (or at least none that I know of). This is the thing that worries me the most. A good guy turned bad? Seems easier that it must be. So either he will be a total lunatic and charm us with his acting skills or he will be a good guy under the wolfs clothing.

Shawn Ryan and Eric Kripke… it’s got props.
