Oscar nominee Shohreh Aghdashloo has joined “Star Trek Beyond” as the Paramount Pictures sequel heads for reshoots.
Deadline reports the actress, who stars work next month on the second season of Syfy’s “The Expanse,” will play “the High Command of the Federation.” Presumably, that’s the president of the Federation.
Directed by Justin Lin, “Star Trek Beyond” stars Chris Pine, Zachary Quinto, Karl Urban, Zoe Saldana, Simon Pegg, John Cho, Anton Yelchin, Sofia Boutella and Idris Elba.
Aghdashloo, who won an Emmy Award for her performance in “House of Saddam,” is best known for her Oscar-nominated role in “House of Sand and Fog.”
“Star Trek Beyond” opens July 22.
