Michael Ealy to Climb ‘Jacob’s Ladder’ Reboot

“Almost Human” alum Michael Ealy is set to star in the long-rumored reboot of “Jacob’s Ladder,” the influential 1990 psychological horror film.

Variety reports that David Rosenthal, who directed Ealy in last year’s “The Perfect Guy,” is attached to helm the LD Entertainment feature.

Directed by Adrian Lyne from a script by Bruce Joel Rubin, the original starred Tim Robbins as a troubled Vietnam veteran whose experiences before and during the war continue to haunt him in flashbacks and hallucinations. While only moderately successful in its box-office release, “Jacob’s Ladder” earned a cult following, and has been cited as an influence on such works as the “Silent Hill” video game and film franchises, and the television series “American Horror Story: Asylum.”

The reboot, written by Jeff Buhler (“Pet Cemetery”) and Sarah Thorp (“The Bounty Hunter”), is described simply as “a modern-day paranoid action thriller about two brothers.”

this is retarded. in the original movie it turned out to all be a hallucination in the end that he was having before he died. they’ll have to take that out of the show and that kinda defeats the whole point

“…a paranoid action thriller about two brothers”? If that’s what they’re making, why make “Jacob’s Ladder”? There’s a great opportunity here to go back and remake the film as written by Bruce Joel Rubin (the film made considerable changes to his script). This just sounds like they’re borrowing the title for something completely NOT “Jacob’s Ladder”.

STOP REMAKING GOOD FILMS YOU STUPID BASTARDS.

Why waste so much money making consistenly inferior versions of movies no one ever thought needed improvement? It’s utterly baffling given the lousy returns these reboots always make.

There are THOUSANDS of shitty movies that could be remade into something better.
