Explosions ripped through East Ninth Street in Cleveland Monday afternoon during filming of director Joss Whedon’s The Avengers. Chris Evans was spotted on set, where shooting will continue through Saturday.
Filming of a battle scene began this morning at a debris-strewn Cleveland intersection that’s been transformed into New York City’s 42nd Street for the Joss Whedon-directed film.
Ohio Gov. John Kasich confirmed this afternoon that part of The Avengers will be filmed in Cleveland following Marvel’s decision to withdraw the project from Michigan over questions about state tax incentives. The Joss Whedon-directed movie is expected to begin shooting in the city in the fall.
Following news that Marvel has decided not to shoot part of The Avengers because of questions about tax incentives, Ohio Gov. John Kasich has revealed he’s working with Cleveland officials to bring an unnamed Marvel/DC superhero movie to that city.
