Now that Dredd 3D has — to put it mildly — tanked at the U.S. box office, it’s perhaps time to look again at the idea that Comic-Con International can serve as any kind of market barometer for genre movies and, hopefully, kindly dispose of that notion as quickly and painlessly as possible.
When all the receipts are counted, the action-drama End of Watch is expected to pull ahead of the horror-thriller House at the End of the Street to lead a mediocre weekend at the North American box office. Dredd 3D, meanwhile, opened in a dismal sixth place.
