Sony Pictures packed the Anaheim Convention Center arena for a WonderCon presentation spotlighting The Mortal Instruments: City of Bones, Evil Dead and This Is the Dead.
The CW gives the upcoming midseason replacement Cult the Tuesday, 9 p.m. time slot formerly held by Emily Ownes, M.D. Created by Farscape mastermind Rockne S. O’Bannon, the thriller debuts Feb. 19.
The red-band trailer has at last debuted for Evil Dead, director Fede Alvarez’s remake of the Sam Raimi/Bruce Campbell cult classic. “The movie’s not funny,” Campbell promises. “The movie is old-fashioned, retro horror.”
Sam Raimi, the director of 1981′s The Evil Dead, calls Fede Alvarez’s upcoming remake “so bloody, it will make your head spin,” while Bruce Campbell promises, “This is going to be just as memorable as [the original] Evil Dead without being the same movie.”
A Comic-Con International audience was treated to a screening of Cult, the upcoming drama from Farscape creator Rockne S. O’Bannon that delves in the shadowy depths of obsessive fandom.
Morena Baccarin, Jessica Lucas, Cobie Smulders and Mary Elizabeth Winstead are among the actresses negotiating to test this week for the role of a key member of SHIELD — a character Samuel L. Jackson described as Nick Fury’s “sidekick” — in The Avengers.
