With the departure last week of Patty Jenkins, Marvel is moving quickly to find a new director for its Thor sequel by turning once again to HBO’s Game of Thrones.
Thor director Kenneth Branagh says Patty Jenkins is “a great choice” to succeed him on the sequel, and explains why he passed on the Marvel film.
The actor has met with Monster director Patty Jekins, the reported frontrunner to helm Marvel’s Thor sequel, and said she “looked like she had done her homework.”
The Monster director confirmed she’s in talks to helm the Thor sequel, saying, “I think Marvel is really ballsy to think outside the box.”
Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige has offered a few details about the sequel to Thor, which he says will examine the new dynamic between Odin and the young god of thunder, “as well as what are the broader stakes for The Nine Worlds.”
A new report contends Marvel may turn to Monster writer/director Patty Jenkins to helm the 2013 sequel to the blockbuster Thor, which has grossed $447 million worldwide.
