When all the receipts are counted, the action-drama End of Watch is expected to pull ahead of the horror-thriller House at the End of the Street to lead a mediocre weekend at the North American box office. Dredd 3D, meanwhile, opened in a dismal sixth place.
Paul W.S. Anderson’s Resident Evil: Retribution led the weekend domestic box office with $21.1 million, while Paul Thomas Anderson’s The Master broke art-house records in its limited release.
